Linear Simulcast Modulation (LSM)

The NSW Public Safety Network (PSN) uses Linear Simulcast Modulation (LSM) across many sites statewide. These LSM sites operate on APCO P25 Phase II and typically use 700 MHz and 800 MHz frequencies, with control channels marked by a “c”.

Notes on LSM and PSN Frequencies

        •  LSM sites use simulcast technology to improve coverage and reduce interference across overlapping zones.
        • Frequencies are reused across multiple sites, but each site has a unique RFSS and Site ID.
        • Control channels rotate periodically, so scanners should be programmed with all site frequencies.
        • The PSN is fully encrypted for NSW Police, but other agencies (e.g., Fire, Ambulance, SES) may still be monitorable depending on location and talkgroup.
