About Corrective Services NSW on the PSN

Corrective Services NSW is responsible for managing adult prisons, supervising offenders in the community, and overseeing parole and rehabilitation programs. As part of the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, CSNSW relies on the PSN for secure, state-wide radio communications.

        • Network Used: NSW Public Safety Network (formerly GRN)

        • Radio Standard: APCO P25 Phase II digital trunked system

        • Coverage: State-wide, including metropolitan and regional correctional centres

Technical Operations

CSNSW units use PSN radios for:

        • Prison-to-prison coordination

        • Escort and transport logistics

        • Parole and community supervision

        • Emergency response within correctional facilities

Radio IDs (RIDs) associated with CSNSW typically begin with 212####, helping identify transmissions on the network.

Monitoring Information

        • Encryption: All CSNSW talk groups are encrypted for privacy and security.

        • Scanner Access: No voice traffic from CSNSW can be decoded or monitored.

        • TGID Cataloguing: Hobbyists can log TGID activity and RID patterns, but not content.
