RDIO is an alternative way to access Public Safety Network NSW communications without needing to purchase dedicated hardware—it is completely free to access and user-friendly. It provides automated voice call transcripts, maintains a searchable and downloadable archive of past audio recordings, and allows users to lock onto specific services and talkgroups.

Alongside live audio streaming, AI-powered transcription generates text feeds of voice calls (noting that accuracy can vary based on underlying audio quality). The interface also displays real-time channel names, user IDs (RIDs), and talkgroup IDs (TGIDs).
The interface provides hardware-grade scanner controls allowing you to lock out specific TGIDs, hold systems, hold TGIDs, instantly replay the last transmission, avoid unwanted channels, and select preferred priority TGIDs.
The RDIO Virtual Scanner processes up to 20,000 calls per day with the primary services being Ambulance NSW, Fire & Rescue NSW, State Emergency Services NSW, Rural Fire Service NSW plus smaller agencies and government services
This RDIO Virtual Scanner is part of multi -node network which allows for the high volume of calls across a massive coverage area which is increasing steadily. The call volume is so high that we have an archive section where you can review calls that you may have missed.
Use the interface buttons below to control audio streams, filter talk groups, and navigate historical transcripts on the live public safety radio network.
Turns the scanner on and off. Note: You no longer require any passwords to turn the Virtual Scanner on.
If you only want to listen to one system (e.g., Ambulance NSW), wait until you are on an Ambulance NSW channel and press this button. Once green, it will stay locked on to only that agency.
Repeat the last call that came through the system.
If you have a lot of calls in the queue, you can quickly cycle through them by repeatedly pressing the button. There is no on/off state.
Lock out a specific talk group (e.g., Sydney - SW Operations). You can clear the avoid list by cycling the scanner off then back on.
Opens a new page allowing you to search transcripts and calls going back up to 30 days. Use the back arrow to return to the main RDIO screen.
Stops all incoming calls from playing audio while accumulating all calls in the queue—this count will be shown in the top right corner of the main screen.
If you know the name of the Talk Group you wish to listen to, you can search the database set up with all standard names of TGIDs (Talk Group Identifiers).
Displays comprehensive statistics on call volumes, calls per day, and various other operational metrics.
Set auto-jump between 1 to 10 minutes by dragging the slider below the button. This ensures you will only hear calls between 1 and 10 minutes old. Keep in mind: This will skip potentially dozens of calls.
This service is provided free to the community, serving as a vital monitoring tool during critical incidents such as bushfires, floods, and other natural or man-made disasters.
